The Summer Solstice marks a time of celebration, honoring the light, our connection to the Sun and the Earth. Every culture has festivals to honor this magnificent day and Earth’s incredible bounty!
Summer provides fire/power that creates abundance and nourishment for tiny seeds. It’s an energy that expands and brings things to fulfillment like ideas and plans to brighten our lives.
Summer teaches us patience. The warmth of the sun and the long, hot days continually remind us of how good it is to find a balance between intense activity and lazy, idle hours doing nothing. The fruit is green until it’s ripe and you just can’t rush it. Something of the slow, sure rhythm of the time will enter into us if we let it; no, we can’t hurry things, but if we just relax, let go, and go with the flow, things will reach their fullness without effort or ego’s striving on our part.
As we watch the flowering, fruiting and ripening all around us, we can’t help but be moved by, and grateful for, the generosity of our Earth Mother for it is she who determines what we need and when, in abundance.
Summer is a perfect time to discover our Earth connection; by receiving her gifts with respect, taking only what we need, and doing what we can to minimize our impact on the delicate balance of the planet, we strengthen and nourish the bond we have with the generous and loving parent who sustains us all.
For centuries, our ancestors of all cultures built huge bonfires on this day to celebrate their tangible connection to the vital fire power of the immense burning star that keeps our planet bright, warm, and alive.
It’s a good time to remember that we, like the sun, contain the power to nurture and sustain and that we have a responsibility to burn as brightly as we can. It’s the time to invite fire into our lives, to burn away all that we have outgrown and all that no longer serves us.
Summer gives us thoughts of becoming flower-children again and perhaps “bringing flowers” to those who think differently, those who we see as “different, because in the end, we are all the same, and want the same things: peace, love, joy, beauty, creativity, and comfort. Use this Solstice energy to become a fertile ground for creative living and inspire everyone you meet to do the same. 🔆🌙✨💕
